It may seem overwhelming simply getting your dress home from the shop. If your having a destination wedding you have a bit more traveling to deal with. You do have some options.

Here are some recommendations for destination weddings:
-You can mail it. It may be more convenient but there's always the risk of it getting lost in route.
-You can carefully pack your dress and check it in with your other luggage. Again, it's a bit of a risk.
-If your dress is very heavy and bulky, you may chose to buy an extra seat so you can keep an eye on it at all times. It may look silly, but since you've paid thousands of dollars for your gown, it is worth it.
-You can of course also request that the gown be placed in the airplane's coat closet. For this to work you'll need a fairly lightweight dress that will fit in the plane's closet.
